SAFETY and FINDING HELP

If you are injured, in need of medical attention, concerned about your safety or that of another, uncomfortable, feeling threatened, aware of inappropriate behavior, or in need of someone to listen, please bring it to our attention.

You can speak with any directors, organizers, instructors, staff, or volunteers.

We are here to help you

We are dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable opportunity to dance for everyone; to that end, instructors, staff, attendees, and volunteers must comply with the following code of conduct. Organizers will enforce this code and expect cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment.

CODE OF CONDUCT:

HARASSMENT OF EVENT PARTICIPANTS IN ANY FORM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to, offensive verbal comments, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of workshops or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

Sexual language and imagery in social situations are not appropriate for any event venue, including dances, workshops, competitions, Twitter, Facebook, and other online media.

Event participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the event without a refund at the discretion of the organizers.

AVENUES FOR SEEKING HELP

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the event staff immediately.

Staff will be happy to help participants contact the organizers or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event. The safety of all participants is our highest priority.

ILLEGAL USE OF DRUGS OR ALCOHOL IS NOT PERMITTED.

PRACTICING GOOD DANCE ETIQUETTE

The infographic here is a great walkthrough of social dancing etiquette. Below are some oft overlooked items that we would like to give a special mention.

Please do not offer unsolicited advice to fellow dancers either in class or on the social dance floor.

Please avoid collisions and injuries on the dance floor. It is the responsibility of every dancer to be accountable for and aware of their and their partner's movement as well as considerate of all other dancers on the floor. Safety is always the most important aspect of dancing.

Please be respectful to event staff, even if you are experiencing a personal frustration. Without the generous commitments of these individuals, a smoothly functioning event is impossible.

Finally, be aware of your own boundaries and physical needs.

Thank you and we hope to see you on the floor!
